JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern State University announces a new degree program and a new leadership member.
New Vice Provost
MSSU names Dr. Lisa Toms as the future Provost and Vice President for Tutorial Affairs. College officials chose her for the placement right after a national research with more than 80 applicants.
She currently serves as the Vice Provost for Academic Applications and Dean of Graduate Research and Investigation at the College of Central Missouri. She’ll join Missouri Southern on Feb. 15, 2022.
“I am honored to sign up for a university that provides prospects for learners of all backgrounds to strengthen their lives via higher education,” mentioned Toms. “The mission of Missouri Southern is one that aligns with my desire to make investments in pupils.”
Toms was released during the Board of Governors conference held Friday, Jan. 14, for the duration of which a new degree system was also authorized.
New MSSU Degree
The University of Organization and the Kinesiology Division will provide an interdisciplinary bachelor’s software in Activity and Recreation Management, pending acceptance by the HLC.
The new degree was proposed to tackle the enhanced curiosity and employment opportunities obtainable in the recreation and activity sector.
“We’re pretty fired up about this new application,” claimed Dr. Jeffrey Zimmerman, Dean, College of Small business. “It was designed from the ground up with employability of our pupils in head.”
The Bachelor of Science in Activity and Recreation Management will match inside of the 120-credit history-hour design and contains a 41-credit hour sport and recreation management core designed to offer college students with work-related skills in the athletics, recreation and leisure services companies.
