It was through the early days of the pandemic that Tamez determined to get one more diploma. Lessons started in summertime 2020, and Tamez took a single class every single semester.  

“I did it since I could,” she explained. “And I preferred to study more. My earth opened up and it has been a good journey. I am 87, some of my college students have been 21. They could be my fantastic-grandchildren.”  

Her classmates were respectful and delightful, she claimed.  

The past time Tamez was a faculty scholar was 37 many years back. That was back again in 1985, when she was pursuing a doctorate in nursing at UT Austin.  

Seeking again on these previous two yrs as a university student once more, she stated, creating essays and expression papers were being simple but she experienced to get used to getting timed examinations.  

“I had not experienced that sort of a examination in a long time. I would sit down and pray the rosary prior to I opened the test. It was a problem,” she admitted. “But I produced it.”  


Tamez was a first-era college or university graduate, and she credits her mothers and fathers for her good results.  

“Both of my dad and mom experienced a sixth-quality education. They often promoted instruction to my sister and myself. My sister was an elementary college instructor for 35 a long time and I grew to become a nurse,” she reported.

“I truly feel that I have a lot of constructive electricity to be in a position to retain our pupils engaged and to encourage them,” she claimed. “As prolonged as I am physically and mentally able of performing it, I will continue to train.
